Attending a Historically Black University, I chose a learning environment where many of my educators had used their scholarship to forward the Civil Rights Movement. As a result, studying history was also framed as a tool for civic engagement and forwarding social movements.

I am most interested in the historiography of the Black Freedom Struggle, and using this research to work with communities in addressing injustices. I am also interested in working with museums so that they better address race inequities both in and outside the field.
